The participants are guests from the neighbour countries and other regions of Europe and hosts from Beograd, mostly from the cultural or social professions.
Part 1 - On the street
Hosts and guests are having walks through Belgrade. The city opens a wide perspective on different models of life, be they individual-personal, traditionally formed, or society-state planned. To show the own city to a stranger is a non pretentious opportunity to think and talk about one's perspective on own and somebody else's cultural expressions. We meet our own idea and foreign expectations about the city, why it is like this, how we would like it to be and how we would like to present it to sombody from elsewhere.Part 2 - Under the bridge
One of the bridges over the river Sava is "Gazela". The international highway, "autoput", leads over this bridge. This is not a very comfortable place, especially not in the wintertime, but for this reason the best location to find without being disturbed a practice that is not in service to big ideas.
Guests and hosts meet under the bridge to bring together what they have seen, experienced, thought and found during their walks. What will happen there exactly can only be guessed: maybe people will try to find something to sit on or even build a hut. Or maybe everything that could give a little warmth will be burned at once? Ideas about how somthing works, how and why something is done like this or like that and what should it be in the end will be confronted in the real situation and lead to a discussion under the bridge, which the public and representatives of the local art- and culture scene are invited to join.
Part 1, the walks through the city and part 2, the building and discussing under the bridge will be documented by means of photography, video and soundrecording, drawing, writing, collecting, etc as far and in the shape they want to. A documentation will be published by the BIRO.
Next year UNDER THE BRIDGE will be contiued in another city in the region.
